Stomach and Bowel

Hey guys, posting here again.

I posted a question here on Feb 18th about stomach pains I had. Well these pains are back now. I think it may be an ulcer or inflammation of some kind. The last time I had this problem I got some Omeprazole off my doctor. I finished those and the pains came back last week so I got some more on Tuesday.

Problem is that not it's a lot worse. I haven't ate or slept in 4 nights and I'm now starting to get constipated. Some thing I've never been before! I haven't been to school or the gum since last week because the pain is too debilitating!

I also did a helicobactor test yesterday which I won't get results for for another 7-10 days. What I'm asking is does anybody have any advice as to what i can do? I've seen two doctors this week who gave me Omeprazole and Gaviscon. (Yes, ******* gaviscon). This thing is seriously taking it's toll and I can only imagine that the stress of it probably isn't helping my stomach!

Any help is much appreciated.
Conor

First - omeprazole CAN cause abdominal pain as a side effect. You may want to switch to something else, such as Prevacid (you can get over-the-counter), just to make sure.  And take a dose twice daily.

Second - deal aggressively with the constipation so that it is not part of the equation - that just confuses everything.  Miralax (or the store brand) is very good - use a dose every day or even twice a day until the bowels are working well, then cut back. It is not gritty like the fiber supplements, and generally works without causing cramping.

Hi,

What I can tell you is that it may be related to something like crohn's, ulcerative colitis, etc. I personally have crohn's, and when it flairs up it hurts like hell. I think you may be on the right track, as these things do have to do with ulcers. Also the fact that you are experiencing constipation which you say is a first is also one of the symptoms to crohn's. I would suggest seeing a G.I. Dr and they may want to do a colonoscopy. Here is a link to research more on them. http://www.ccfa.org/what-are-crohns-and-colitis/what-is-crohns-disease/

Good Luck, hope this helps.
