Strange skin problem on leg

For the past two weeks I’ve had a strange spot on my leg near my foot, from what I can tell it has stayed the same and has not healed at all. It itches when rubbed and it appears that a thin layer of skin over that “wound” is flaking and coming off. No amount of bandages or polysporin is helping, and seriously this thing appeared out of nowhere.

I’ve already made an appointment with my doctor but it takes about a month to see him, so I’m just wondering is this something in the I should go to the hospital for instead? It kind of looks like a rug burn to me but it’s too circular and nothing happened to my leg recently. Maybe it’s something that needs a cream or antibiotic?

Here’s some pictures so you can judge for yourself.

I honestly don’t have a clue what it could be, it’s not something like cancer or possibly a tick bite is it? I can’t think of why it looks so weird, only reason I ask if it could be a tick bite or maybe an infected mosquito bite is because of it being so low on my leg (near my feet).

Any opinions  on what it could possibly be would be appreciated, I hate having to worry over stuff.

Hello~I am glad you have made an appointment to see your doctor about this. I looked at the photos, it might be a type of spider bite, I am just not sure.

I don't think you need to go to the ER for it however unless it gets bigger, hurts, or you run a fever and feel sick. Please let us know what you find out.

Hey, sorry for the delay I’ve been really busy.

He said it could be eczema (which seemed likely at the time), or perhaps it’s a fungal skin infection which it doesn’t seem like it to me.

The cream hasn’t been helping and so I’m going to try the fungal cream he prescribed for me, if that doesn’t work either then he’ll have to take a biopsy and hope it’s nothing serious.

If I find out anything else I’ll post, thanks for the reply.
