Throat damage

Can a proton pump inhibitor help to repair damage to the throat from acid reflux? If not what can be done to repair the damage?

The thing is the damage is actually a build up of scar tissue from your stomach acid eroding your esophagus the only thing that would "repair" the damage is surgery as far as I know and surgery is costly and will likely just leave you with more scar tissue so all I can recommend is being treated for acid reflux and deal with the damage that's been done.

The drug companies advertise this is so, however whether in fact it is true is a horse of a different color. The answer is most likely "Possibly" and "sometimes", provided the damage is not too great. The idea is that if the corrosive gastric contents are not in contact with the throat there will be natural healing. You really need an in-person evaluation and a treatment protocol set up by a specialist.
