Thumb issues

Hi mate, i injured my thumb three weeks ago catching a football. It showed no signs of injury other than paint until last week. I have developed a lump in the joint between my thumb and the finger next to it. It appears to be near the joint in the webbing of my thumb and is approx 1cm wide. My thumb is extremely painful if i accidently clip it against something or put any pressure on it. I occasionally get pins and needles in my hand and it may be disturbing the blood circulation.

Any assistance is appreciated. It has similar symptons to a ganglion cyst but i am unsure if you can get them in this particular area.

Thanks

Hi Londres70, i appreciate your reply.

I did not ice the area nor take any medication. I will do some research on hematoma's and see if the symptoms are the same.

Once again, thank you for your time. I do intend on seeing a physician one day soon.

I don't think it is a ganglion cyst.  Sounds more like a hematoma r/t the injury.  Did you ice the area at all?   Take any anti-inflammatories, i.e. Motrin/Ibuprofen?

You really should have your physician assess the site since it has been 3 weeks since the injury.
