Fire Ant bites

I was bite by what doctors say a fire ant 5 days ago! The swelling and pain has increased! I have been on an steroid for 3 days now and there is no change! I question why I didn't receive any antibiotics! Please help! I have tried soaking and although it caused it to burst, it continues to fill-up and ache! I have a severe allergic reaction to all bites, but this is by far the worst in my adulthood!

Have you tried putting salt or baking soda on the bite?  I always use Apple cider vinegar immediately and I also drink some diluted in some water.  I did this when I was bitten by a recluse spider and it actually healed the bite.  I kept applying the vinegar to the bite and drinking the vinegar water for several days.  I also took benedryl four times a day for several days until the poison dissipated.  A rag soaked with salt water is also good to draw the poison out.

Yes you sound like you are allergic to the insect bite. That is probably why initially they didn't recommend antibiotics because it was allergy not infection. However, if it is getting worse you should see your doctor again and/or another doctor as it may have become infected.
