Update after ultrasound results.

So I got my ultrasound results back today for my hard unmoveable swollen lymph node on my neck. The doctors office called and said the results looked abnormal and that i need a CT scan. They are waiting to hear back from my insurance to get it covered. So they will call me in 2 to 3 weeks. Like I said in other posts, It makes me nervous that they weren't able to just rule it out as nothing to worry about. They waiting is also making me nervous cause first I have to wait to get it covered then i have to get it done ( which I don't really know what a CT scan is like, ive never had one) then I have to wait for the results. Sorry if I sound whiney or anything I'm sure lots of people have to do this, it's just my first time and some of you guys wanted me to keep you guys posted. So let me know if you have any advice or let me know what happens during a CT scan and how to prepare for it when it does get covered.

I agree with Emily, I would be doing more than just whining, I would probably be using some pretty unkind expletives by now. Gosh, it seems like a long time to get things going.

Emily explained the CT scan perfectly, my husband has had so many and so did my mom, it won't hurt and it will be over before you know it. Be sure to ask the tech any questions before they start so they can calm your nerves.

Oh hon, WHINE if you want to. That's a lot of waiting, and I'd definitely be whining, too. (I'd probably be yelling and cursing a lot, too.)

A CT scan is a kind of tube thing that you'll lay in while they take pics. It's open, so you don't have to worry about claustrophobia. You can see one here - https://www.emedicinehealth.com/ct_scan/article_em.htm

It shouldn't take too long - not longer than 5 minutes, if that, and you'll just lay there, probably a mix of bored and worried about the results and just trying not to move.

They'll tell you if you are going to have contrast dye injected or not. If you are, you may not want to eat for a few hours prior, since that can cause nausea.

It's totally painless. The machine doesn't touch you at all.

I'm sorry you have to do all this ridiculous waiting, and that you're scared (which is totally normal) but I'm so glad they are taking it seriously. Yep, lots of people have to do this, but that doesn't make it any less valid for you to feel what you're feeling. Lots of people get migraines, but that doesn't make them any less painful if you or I do, right?
