Why are my feet wrinkly, white and painful?

I started a new job back in November, and I work in a dish pit frequently. Even on nights when I don't, we hose down and scrub and squeegee our floors, so by the end of the night (in dish like the whole day) my shoes and socks are soaked. I started to notice when I got home the soles of my feet would be white. Then I started to notice the whiteness spreading and they are very wrinkly. Once my feet get wet at work, it really starts to hurt to walk. I know the obvious, I need to invest in more waterproof shoes, but is there some kind of medical condition that I need to take care of even if I get waterproof shoes? The amount of swelling/white/wrinkly is a bit concerning

Hello~It probably isn't anything to worry about, but, I would try to get more waterproof shoes and possibly a change of socks so you can change mid-shift, this might help.

If you are very concerned, then a visit to a podiatrist might help, maybe they can give you other ideas as well.

Hi.  I don't think so.  That sounds to be a direct reaction to your work situation.  I see that kind of skin as well when I am in wet socks and shoes.  Definitely get some rubber shoes.  There is something kind of odd that can happen if you don't keep your feet dry called "trench feet".  https://www.healthline.com/health/trench-foot  I had to worry about that with my sons on a week long boy scout outing in which it rained the entire time and the boys were in wet socks and shoes for days at a time.  Infections were the issue that kids were battling from sores on their feet.  So, definitely take it seriously to get yourself in a situation of not having to stand forever in wet feet. And if you still have wet feet from the water situation at work, dry them thoroughly with a towel as soon as you can and have dry socks and shoes to get into.  Might be a situation in which a job search for something without this would be wise.
