complications
I have a friend who is female age 61 who is scheduled for major surgery on a very large ventral hernia in 3 days. she has used Meth today and will not use anymore till surgery. What complications should she expect will happen and is there anything she could do to improve this situation. She is also a smoker of tobacco, but will start breathing treatments with ipratropi/alb and obstain from smoking also.

Caregiver is absolutely right, she needs to get that Meth and carbon monoxide out of her system so she does not have any complications, arrhythmia are nothing to play with.
I might add that smoking degrades the ability of the blood to carry oxygen because of the carbon monoxide binding with the hemoglobin. She should not have had a cigarette within two weeks of the procedure.
The meth will not be out of her system and the anesthesiologist must be informed. As soon as possible. Even small doses may interfere with several types of anesthesia causing life-threatening arythmias.
