This is not  good, she needs to stop for the health of her unborn baby, she needs to think of the baby before herself, she is responsible for its' health.

It is criminally irresponsible to smoke pot during pregnancy. This behavior warrants a call to child protective services. Putting to the side the problems with smoking and pot, streetpot is often sprayed with neurotoxins. This is deliberate and the airplane spraying is conducted by south american governments to destroy the crops. Unless the pot is obtained in a state where it is legalized you don't know what you are getting. There is no justification for the off-the-cuff comment "it won't hurt the baby".

Here is a good link to share from her from an unbiased source that used research and science to come to their conclusions.  It's from the National Institute of Health

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23314724

It is up to a woman if she smokes pot or not.  Some choose to do so for some health issues they are having and I fully support medical marijuana use.  Doctors are supposed to be on board for that though and many will give a prescription if they feel the benefit outweighs the risks.

I would worry about a drug test if  were using pot that wasn't supported by my doctor.  That can be tricky.

But you often can't tell another person what to do.  So, maybe give her the information and back off.  good luck

I smoked until I was 33 weeks due to stress if it lowers birth weight I would hate to see my son if I didn't smoke I had a 9.4lb baby 9 days ago yes you will have to deal with cps if your baby comes out with weed in their systems and it's a b*tch not worth losing your baby I stopped in time both me and the baby came out clean when he was born I was even honest with my midwife told her every thing

My sister in law smoked it to get her appetite back. Her baby made her very nauseated and everything she'd try to eat she'd puke everything up. But when she smoked, it made everything better. She lost so much weight during that pregnancy it was scary.
I live in Texas too, they did not take her baby away.

Its her child you get no say regardless if you find it morally disgraceful or not. In some states it is legal, in others not. Here in arkansas a lot of the doctors will turn their head bc it does wonders for nausea and dizziness and is much much less harmful than nicotine, beer or wine, and narcotics.

My mothers baby doctor told her that smoking marijuana was fine, and suggested it if you have anger, bi-polar, anxiety, and/or depression during pregnancy since you can't take medication. Smoking marijuana is better than cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol.

it will not hurt the baby, I'm a pothead and smoked at least 8-9 blunts a day everyday for the past 3 Years, and I even did during the beginning of my pregnancy but stopped immediately when I found out. I'm almost 9w with a healthy baby and steady heartbeat. she just needs to stop very soon!

It could harm the baby just because others smoke it and there fine remember everyone's different it can effect the baby in many ways some one I know smoked weed on many occasions and she went for her scan she found out her baby died she had to give birth to her baby boy  I no it can harm the baby but some people smoke it and their babys can be fine but some people  I guess it ent like that for some she needs to think bout the baby and trust me it isn't nice seeing a baby that's addicted to weed going threw the pain of having a withdrawal its not nice or fair on the baby  she **** needs to stop otherwise she will have her baby took off her even then if she did stop  they will watch her like a hork anyway if they knew she was using drugs  and they will find out trust me they will use anything against her

I have known several people who smoked through their pregnancy, for nausea and stress. All of their babies came out at normal birth weights and continue to be healthy children. I use it in the mornings for the nausea that will not quit. And I am 31weeks and everything is going normal. Can't wait to meet my healthy baby girl.

If she's that selfish now and refuses to quit she doesn't deserve to have a baby

You can't make her stop. She's going to keep on doing it as long as she wants. At the end of the day the baby is hers and if the baby comes out with any medical issues she's the only one who has to deal with it. I hope she stops soon though. I knew someone who did and plenty of people encouraged her to stop. She did stop towards the end though.

Her real concern is if the doctors feel the need to drug test her cps can take her baby from her as soon as its born

Idk what state you live in, but in Texas that's a federal crime and if the baby comes out positive for marijuana than you don't get any parental privileges and your baby will get taken away. You should really talk to her about it. /: not only that but it is definitely unsafe for the baby.

And if she isnt willing to sacrifice a habbit for her baby, what will she do after the baby is born?  I used to smoke, found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks, haven't done anything at all since.  She can quit.  It isnt addictive like meth or crack.  She is just choosing to be selfish.

It won't harm the baby.  At most, it will lower the birth weight because it cuts off oxygen to the baby.  She should stop just because she could get tested for drug use and if anything comes back positive, she will have CPS up her *** before she even births
the baby.  If she refuses to stop smoking, and it concerns you that much, tell her to at least eat weed brownies or something with weed in it so it wont cut off oxygen to the baby.  Then the only risk is CPS being up her ***.

Explain to her that she is willingly depriving her baby of oxygen.
