where is my period?

Hi all, i'm new here so bare with me.
I have two children, a 2&1/2year old and a 1year old. We tried for the first time last month to get preg with #3.
Since coming off the pill last year my cycle lengths have been 33, 33, 34, 35, 34 and then 41days. Before the pill and my pregnancies my cycle was always 33days.

We had unprotected sex a bunch of times last month and my period was predicted to start last thurs based on an average 35day cycle.
I have done loads of hpts and most of them have been negative with the odd exception of a very faint (and questionable) positive. I say questionable because they were so faint I don't know if they could have been evaps. I have a few preg symptoms but nothing too extreme.

So today is CD42 and I still have no period and I did a frer this morning and it was bfn. So my question is what's going on? Could I still be pregnant? Is this just the longest cycle i've ever had and if so why would this be happening? If my faint bfp's are real bfps why are they not getting darker? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
I should also say with my daughter I got a very clear bfp 4days before my period was due to start and with my son I was already a week late before I even got a faint bfp.

Hi!
A woman's cycle is considered to be normal if it lasts between 21 and 31 days.  SO,
right off the bat you fall outside the normal range.  This suggests that something is up with your ovulation.  You MUST be ovulating at least some of the time, or there wouldn't be a number 1 and 2!  So, my guess is that you simply did not ovulate on this cycle, and it is usually necessary for a woman to ovulate in order for her to have a period.  If you were my patient, I would repeat the pregnancy test, and if negative, I would give you a 5 day course of progesterone to start your period.  Then I would discuss something to help you ovulate such as Femara or Clomid.  You very likely will conceive with or without medications, but Femara/Clomid will regulate your cycles a bit and shorten them a bit, therefore speeding up the process.  With these two medications there is minimal risk of multiples.

Hope this helps!
