I'm pleased I could help. EWH
Correct. no risk... and no further repetetive answers. You have no reason to worry. EWH
Dear doctor,
I know this is a no risk event from your answer. But I want to make sure whether my thought was correct. For my last question,Can you confirmed it to me? It is a repeat question, but please help me, so I can move on, I still worry about the HIV virus in low temperature.
Once hiv is exposed to enviroment , due to lower temperature, drying, and other factors, it begins to die. So the lower temperature in enviroment is one of the factor which can caused the virus inactived. Is my thought correct? Please help me for my last question. Due to my worries, Sorry for my repeat question.
Repeat question. Please re-read my answer. This was a no risk event. EWH
Thank you doctor. So Can I think that Once exposed in the enviroment, The Hiv begins to die, due to the lower temperature, drying......
This is the same for hiv exposed in the enviroment, as meats or ice are frozen at in non-laboratory situations.
Welcome to the Forum. I can understand how you might be confused from this. When HIV and other viruses are frozen in the laboratory this is done under very special conditions using specially prepared freezing medium to make sure the virus survives and freezing the specimens at far colder temperatures (-80 degrees centigrade) than usual freezers used for food and making ice. This is a very different situation from the conditions and temperatures that meats or ice are frozen at in non-laboratory situations.
The exposure you describe did not put you at risk for HIV or other viral STIs. the blood was almost certainly animal blood and, even in the very unlikely situation that it was not, the virus would not have been contagious when you cut your hand.
As far as eating or swallowing material contaminated with blood or other infectious materials- there is no evidence that HIV is ever acquired in adults by eating or swallowing infected material
I hope this clarifies things for you. there is no reason for concern and no reason for testing. EWH
Sorry ,there is one mistake in my POST.
In the paragraph 4, I want to ask "So it can be preserved in the sampling. But can't remain infection in the ice, the frozen raw meat?"
