massage parlor visit

Hey Doc,

Quick question. I think i already know the answer, but i'll sleep better hearing it from you. I had sex at a massage parlor the other day. Both Protected oral and Protected vaginal. However before she placed the condom on me,,,she did lick my genital region for minute or so..them she place the condom on my penis and begain the oral, followed by vaginal. Who knows what she might of had if anything. Should i be concerned and go for testing. I made sure that protection was used,,,but the licking part under the penis and around the genitals threw me a curveball?

If i was to be exposed to herpis or any other STD how long does a reaction take,,,A week or a few days,,I would just like a ballpark figure if possible.

Thanks
LB

Welcome to our Forum.  This is the HIV Prevention Forum so I will address your HIV risk briefly first, then comment on other STDs.  You are not at risk for HIV at all. Condom protected sex is safe sex and you will not get HIV from having protected sex.  As for the licking and kissing of your genitals, also no risk.  HIV has NEVER been transmitted by kissing of any sort and particularly in relationship to your exposure there is no risk since the virus will not penetrate intact skin.

As for other STDs, again, with protected sex, no risk. so what About the genital contact of her mouth with your genitals.  The risk is minuscule overall.  There is NO risk for gonorrhea, chlamydia or NGU - these are mucosal pathogens which do not infect intact non-mucous membrane skin.  If she had oral herpes (cold sores) or syphilis of the mouth or lips, there is a tiny risk that you might have acquired one of those infections.  HOWEVER, if you did not see a sore on her mouth, it is unlikely that she had syphilis or that herpes would be transmitted.  I urge you not to worry.  If 10 days pass and you have not developed a genital lesion you will not develop herpes.  After 3 weeks, similarly there is no risk of syphilis.

Bottom line, this was close to a no risk exposure.  No testing is needed and if you do not develop a sore in the area where you were kissed, that did not occur either. I hope this comment is helpful to you.  EWH
