HIV TEST KIT

Dear Someone,

I have been tested using rapid test (abbott determine hiv 1/2) at 1,2,3,5,11 and 15 months post exposure.. However upon going to the website of inverness medical the distributor of abbott determine it says there that this product only test for HIV 1/2, HIV GROUP O and HIV Subtypes A-G...

Then I knew that there was HIV GROUP N and HIV subtypes H,J,K.. which was not indicated at abbott determine hiv 1/2 product catalogue. I began to freak out again upon knowing this.  I am a family and will soon have an annual medical check-up with our company and I am very afraid now... Can somebody who has a further knowledge on hiv testing give me some clarification on this... pls.pls..

Thank you very much..

The test picks up everything. Groups, subtypes, it doesn't matter. There is no such thing as  false negative due to a test not picking up some rare strain of HIV.

Yes, I was advised repeatedly. specially be teak and lizzie lou, But they answer me only on HIV Subtypes.. But how about HIV GROUP N? subtypes and groups are different.. Is this typical type of HIV which is the GROUP N.. can be detected by abbott determine HIV 1/2..

Im asking this in a polite manner. Maybe someone of you have access to specialist and to someone who have better understanding on this typical type of question. Again, I am referring to HIV GROUP N...

Thanks for your understanding and hope to hear from you soon!!!

As you were told repeatedly in the HIV Prevention Community, your test would have picked up ALL subtypes of HIV. Just because there are different subtypes of HIV doesn't mean that they can't be picked up by an antibody test- they are all similar enough to be detected.

You were told this multiple times and apparently cannot accept the advice. That suggests an underlying mental health problem. I would advise you to take up your concerns with a mental health professional to help you understand why you persist in thinking you have HIV despite overwhelming evidence against it.
