THOUGHT YOU HAD ALL THE ANSWERS ? ? ?
You answered the same question for somebody else in the HIV Prevention Community just a couple of days ago- you know the answer.
The window period is becoming shorter and shorter and we consider testing results after 42 days as reliable. In cases of high risk we advise a routine follow up test (one month later). We also encourage people to do another test if they still feel unsure ( not because we doubt the initial result but because the test is fairly cheap and some people just need more reassurance to be able to put the episode behind them). If you feel another test will help reassure you feel free to do another one (just know that it is meant to ease your mind and not to question the original result).
If you still anxious after a second test you might want to chat to someone about it. Sometimes being hard on yourself can also become destructive. Let me know how you are doing and if you need to chat more…
