Hi, I'm so freaked out. I found out that my boyfriend cheated on me with a transexual. I found it in his emails. He has been seeing her/him for about a month. I have no idea what the status of the transexual is (HIV+ or HIV-) I actually emailed the tranny and asked if she was clean and STD free and she said she was and that she uses condoms with all men. My boyfriend and I had sex 5 times this month. About 10 days after one act of unprotected intercourse I developed a very bloated stomach, and just felt sick. I had nausea, loss of appetite, diarehha, cramps & lower back pain and very tired. My flu-like symptoms lasted for about 9-10days, Nausea would come and go sometimes linger. I don't know if i had a fever or not? I took my temp at about 10 days and it was normal. Diarehha was every other day. I thought i was pregnant but i got my period. Now all i can think is HIV b/c him and this transexual. I know the transexual is from the phillipeans and lives here now. My b/f(now ex) said he had a sore in his mouth the other day and thought it was from eating a lot of tomatoes...but after finding out what he did i'm not too sure about that! I'm getting an HIV test done on friday which will be @ 4weeks. Would you say I went through ARS??? What are my statistics in getting HIV from my b/f? Would a negative 4 week test be a good sign? So scared!

Symptoms are never used to diagnose HIV as they can be confusing. If your test is a 4th generation one, it will be accurate 28 days after the encounter, so in your case will be accurate. If it's a normal finger-prick antibodies test, it will be accurate 3 months after the encounter.

You need to have labs done to see what if anything may have been passed.  I would also look up the BAN network.  Beyond Affairs Network to help you deal with your cheating boyfriend.  Last but this might be first to do is talk to your doctor about possible anxiety and depression that often go hand in hand when this type of thing is exposed.  Be safe!  Don't have sex with this man.  *Linda Macdonald has a book about cheaters that might help.  I'm sorry this happened to you!!!

4 weeks won't tell you anything about your status. 3 months post exposure is when you can obtain a conclusive negative test result.
