76 day post exposure hiv test

Hey guys,

I need some reassurance, i tested negative to a 76 day hiv rapid test, (finger) and i am still a little worried also tested negative at three weeks and 6 weeks elisa blood test. First i know that i am some days away from a conclusive test.  ( I am also confused as to the three month mark, 84 days or 90 days) Can i consider this negative result conclusive? What are the chances of a 76 day roughly 11 week negative test turn positive? Is the rapid test considered  a new generation test?

Thanks

In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results

Yes you are nuts to consider a 6 month test when you have been told over and over again that 3 months is conclusive.

Why have you not seen/followed up with your Dr about a sore throat that has lasted for 2 months.

By the way sore throat has nothing to do with HIV.

Hey guys it me again after three months... Well it's now my sixth month and I am still considering a last test.. The only thing that had kept me from truly moving on is this damn sore throat that has been bothering me for more than two months... Am I nuts to consider a final test? My three month rapid test was negative.. I don't knw if this sore throat is just the stress or if it'd something else... I don't knw it's been six months since my last risky episode... What do u think?

BOTH OF YOU NEED TO MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIVES.  A TEST AT 3 MONTHS IS RELIABLE AND CONCLUSIVE.
THIS FORUM HAS NOTHING MORE TO OFFER.

I'm in the same position as you mate
I had blood rapid tests after 76, 83, 94 days and after 16 weeks.
Despite all the negative tests i still can't move on, thinking that the possibility of late seroconversion is still there.
I'm now waiting for another one and a half month to have another test at the 24 weeks.
I'll keep you in my prayer and wish the best for your test result.

Hey guys,

I posted a few weeks ago on the accuracy of 76 day negative... Since u recommended to test at three months I went ahead and did so. I was tested using a rapid test (finger) and it came back negative... So my question to you guys is if I can consider myself HIV negative for good? Is this test conclusive? Do I need further testing considering my risk?
Your response will help me move on for good!

I am just concerned about having a false negative at 76 days and testing positive at 84 or 90? techanically 84 days is 12 weeks. In your opinion should i retest in a week or two?

Thank you reply is very encouraging thanks.

I am still very worried. Dont knw if i should be.

it's highly unlikely that it will change.  (i've never quite understood the difference in the 12/13 weeks...lol)

So my 76 day negative is useless? I should restest in two weeks? What are the chances of my reslutls becoming positive lizzie?
