ARS SYMPTOMS SERO CONVERSION

Dear All

There is no clarity on the ARS symptoms in different sites.

Does all the symptoms occur together?
Does the symptoms occur in the Second week and last for 2 - 4 weeks ?
What is serconversion?
Does the ARS symptoms start after 10 weeks of exposure?

Really, the focus on symptoms is an exhausting and ultimately meaningless pursuit. Because, of course, symptoms are not an indicator of having been infected with HIV. I fell into the trap of reading all about symptoms of primary HIV infection, and it was, quite possibly, one of the worst mistakes of my life. I was taking my temperature and feeling my lymph nodes 10 times a day. Thus, given my own experience, I recommend others to not surf the Web, seeking out information on symptoms. Some of the lists are so broad, and, in some cases, ridiculous, that I found all the information impossible to reconcile anyway.

The simple fact of the matter is this: you seem to indicate that you are 10 weeks out from your percieved risky encounter. Being as this is the case, you may choose to test now, or wait until 12 weeks. Your decisions should be based on the riskiness of the sex or action involved. For most of the questions posted in the moderated HIV Prevention forum, the doctor states that 6 weeks is long enough to wait. Try searching the forums for "Time to positive test" and reading the threads that are found for more information.

Good luck to you, and take care.

Seroconversion is when your body recognize HIV infection and tries to fight.  It is after this time that you will test positive (earlier P24 tests exists though).  The average time to seroconversion is 26 days.

ARS, I believe, is the symptomatic manifestation of this process.

Should symptom occur (its about 50/50 some say much less like 30%), they happen between 2 to 4 weeks after exposure on average.  6 weeks can be possible but it would be exceedingly rare to worry about.  10 weeks is way too long.
When symptoms occur, it will be different for everyone and will most usually look like a mild to severe flue case.  I am talking influenza here, not your garden variety cold / upper respiratory disease.

But please, remember that symptoms are never an indication of HIV infection.

I am not that expert neither I am doctor. But to my knowledge, it occurs after 2 weeks and it last for couple of weeks. Almost every time fever is present on top of everything else. So if you get one symnptoms do not rely on that. There have to be atleast more than one symnptoms present. 10 weeks is slightly long time for symnptoms to occur.
