Abormal Pap

This will honstly be my last post, but my gyno called me today to tell me I had an abnormal pap and need to go in next week for futher tests. I know that abmormal paps are also another sign of hiv and I am having a hard time holding it together. Tomm will be 90 days so I plan to get a rapid test done. Just incase you didnt read the other posts i did have standered antibody tests and 4 and 9 weeks, both negative. Do u think this abnormal pap has anything to do with the rest of my problems and hiv?? I am terrified!! I will be sure to stop posting if u can please help me with this. Thank u!

It is wrong that abnormal paps are a sign of HIV.  Abnormal paps are somewhat more common in women with HIV than without it, but not much.  The vast majority of women with abnormal paps don't have HIV.  Neither do you; your negative HIV test at 9 weeks proves you were not infected.  Your test tomorrow will be negative.

You have been repeatedly reassured by Dr. Hook in your previous thread.  We understand you are anxious, but it is time to think objectively and act rationally.  You need to work to accept the reasoned reassurance you have been given.  If you cannot, please seek counseling.  It it not normal to be so resistant to common sense and evidence, and I suggest it out of compassion, not criticism.

In any case, excessive anxiety-driven posting is not permitted on the professionally moderated MedHelp forums.   Feel free to return once more, and only once, either to this thread or the previous one (not both) to report your final negative HIV test result -- but no more comments will be accepted until then or afterward.  It may seem hard-nosed, but we aren't goint to let you use this forum as a substitute for the kind of personal help you need,  Call it tough love, but that's the way it will be.

Thank you to both Dr's! Your knowledge and "reality" truly is appreciated, especially when it is so easy to be misguided. Today I had an OraQuick Advance Rapid HIV 1/2 Antibody test done, and as you predicted the results were NEGATIVE at 94 days! The nurse of course told me I need to be retested 6 months, but i know that she is just not up to speed with your recommendations that 3 months is conclusive. I now will face my abnormal pap test next week with the biopsy that needs to be done knowing that i do not have HIV.  :)
Thanks again for your hard work and patience! I really really appreciate it!!!
