Am I infected?

Hi everyone I read this site lots for all kinds of health information but finally I have to ask a question. I don’t know where to go from here.

I recently met up with a bar girl / hooker and I paid her for fun. At first it was just suppose to be oral and what not but in the heat of everything she agreed to sex without a condom. About a week later I felt some discomfort when using the bathroom so I went to my doctor and explained to him what had happen. He gave me 4 antibiotic pills and everything has been fine there. When I was there we talked about hiv and he had me do a blood test but it was only 14 days after the event. He said I could get tested at 1 month and it may pick up the infection but most likely not until 3 months. I went back at exactly 31 days and had another blood test and negative but he said I need another test at the 3 month mark. Is my result going to change. Will I have hiv

Just call the lab like RW said and accept the conclusive result as Curfew said, and get your result from them. You don't have any medical training so if you are conclusively negative it will be time to move on from questioning the test methods etc.

I did email CATIE, and they just stated what I read on their website was correct. I’m not sure how I would go about contacting the lab. The lab isn’t public it’s inside the hospital and I’m not sure if they would answer questions like that.

I read a lot on the 4th generation test and some websites say it only has a 3 week window, some day it’s accurate at 4 weeks and some say 6 weeks. On CATIE website it says 95% of infections would be picked up at 34 days and 99% at 6 weeks. I seen on medhelp that some people say 95% of infections at 4 weeks and some sites say anytime after 3 weeks. So my 31 day result might only be 95% accaurate. Maybe I am infected and it was missed

Every lab has a phone number where someone can reach them, so call the hospital and ask what kind of tests they use. Even if you have to go on hold while the operator calls the lab, someone will get the answer for you. Not sure why you feel you have to call the lab if every hospital in Canada uses 4 gen but you can get the answer - it is not a dictator country so info is not filtered.
Just to clarify and I hope ANM agrees with me here. The sources you read  say 95% of people with become ANTIBODY positive for the 4th gen test in 4 weeks.  The benefit if the duo test is that its better at detecting antibodies and it also detects anti gens therefore the other 5% who have not seroconverted will definitely by antigen positive.

Therefore your test at 31 days is conclusive.
Does anybody have any comment on anxious comment?

CATIE is an excellent website and you can trust it's information. It's hard to imagine any lab in the US or Canada using anything less than a  4th gen tests. If you are anxious about the test you had, why don't you call the lab and ask them? Put an end to your guessing and assuming right now!

I am not sure what kind of test it was, I only got told the results. I researched and found on the CATIE website (I am in Canada) that it says all labs use the fourth generation test for blood drawn tests. And another sections talks about the no longer used “third generation”. Like I said I can not be positive of which test it was, but CATIE says ALL labs in Canada use 4th Gen. so I guess I can only assume it was. But this is not something I would like to guess and assume on

Your test result won't change if it was a 4th generation (Ab/Ag) test.  Otherwise, a test at 12 weeks post-event is conclusive, and no one can guess whether your result will or will not change.

You definitely had a risk for HIV and if the test you took at 31 days was a 4th generation DUO, the negative  results were conclusive. If it wasn't a 4th generation, you would be wise to test again at 12 weeks.
