Another oral (cunnilingus) worrier

I had an exposure with a Thai female CSW on the 22nd July this year: cunnilingus and a little bit of analingus for roughly 10 minutes. I did taste some vaginal fluid in my mouth during this activity although I mainly concentrated on the clitoris. There was no visual sign of menstrual blood and she smelt normal. I'm worried that I could have been infected by the vaginal fluid - with a pathway for infection through an abrasion on my lower lip (non bleeding) or via the tonsils. Another factor which is not in my favor, is that I had less saliva than usual due to alcohol and the fact that this happened around 6-7am after dancing. I'm not worried about the unprotected fellatio or the protected vaginal intercourse that followed. I developed a tickly cough and dry throat around 11 or 12 days later. 15 days post event, I developed a runny nose and sneezing. 3 days later I began to feel strong aches in my legs, especially the right one. This was accompanied by fatigue. I have had no fever or rash, but last week I noticed a couple of pus sacs (disappeared after 2 days) on a swollen right tonsil along with a metallic taste. I also have had diarrhea and soft stools over the last week or so. I've lost a 2kg, and appetite has decreased. The muscle aches in the legs have mostly gone although the tonsil is still swollen. That's almost 4 weeks of symptoms, and although I'm aware that HIV from performing cunnilingus is rare, I'm concerned enough to go for an HIV test. What do you think about the likelihood of being infected this way? Ever heard of this happening?

Well, I'll return for a test in a month or so, the symptoms are too strange to ignore and I'm not convinced by a six week test. I have a strong feeling I have Rhabdomyolysis, as my blood pressure is high, legs ache, tongue is metallic and urine is dark and smells fruity. Rhabdomyolysis can be caused by the inflammatory effects of HIV, among other things.

You had no risk in the oral episode you have mentioned and didnt need to test in the first place. No one has been infected through any kind of oral sex and you will definitely not be the first one. You dont need further testing. For opinions on the other tests, please post in the std for for advice. Be well

I'm aware of the 3 month limit for a conclusive result (both HIV and syphilis),

Sorry for late post. I got my blood tests back a couple of days ago. Roche ECLIA HIV 1+2 ab/ag: non reactive, HBV ag non-reactive, HCV ab non reactive. Syphilis VDRL and ab rapid test both non reactive. Wonder what caused that leg aching and diarrhea if these tests are good and accurate? Most weird.

Although I took another test at 8 1/2 weeks for HIV (Abbott CMIA ab/ag) and HCV ab at 10 weeks. Both were non reactive, but I continue to feel poorly. Dark urine, fatigue, muscle aches and gastric problems - I found I have high bilirubin which is suggestive of hepatitis. I am worried about delayed seroconversion due to a simultaneous infection with HIV and HCV. I know this can happen, plus I don't really believe cunnilingus is risk free for HIV.

By cunnilingus and analingus, you mean that you had only oral sex right ? You never inserted your penis into either her vagina or anus. In that case, you are at extremely low risk for HIV.  Oral sex is considered an extremely low risk activity.

Consult your doctor for any symptoms that persist. Don't be anxious. Anxiety can cause a lot of problems. It can aggravate existing problems.

You can always get tested at the 3 month mark to be conclusively sure. I am confident that you are HIV -ve. Chill :) All the best.

thanks for the reply. I followed the oral sex with condom protected vaginal intercourse, which lasted maybe 5 minutes tops. the condom was intact after usage as I inspected it afterwards in the bathroom. there was no trace of blood either. hopefully, i'm just suffering from paranoia and nothing more sinister. the symptoms are odd though, wouldn't you agree?
