Are unsterilize acupuncture needles risk for transmission of hiv?

If the acupuncture needles were infected by a hiv positive person and it was used to you, will it transmit hiv?

No.  The only needles that would be a concern are hollow-bore needles with a syringe attached, used for injection of intravenous substances.  Accupuncture needls are a long way from that, and are zero risk for HIV.

If you are concerned that unsterilized needles are being used, you should report them to your health department, because hepatitis, along with multiple bacterial infections, could be spread that way.

How come hepa can be transmitted and hiv can’t?
Because they are completely different viruses with different modes of transmission and differing abilities to infect.  You also can't get Ebola this way. You could go through every single virus known to man and find that some could be transmitted by a tainted needle, and others could not.
Ok. Thank you!
