Possible ARS - Very very scared

Hi Doc

I have had a sexual expierence with a sex worker on the 23/11/11. I performed oral sex and i have bleeding gums. 2 weeks later i had a terrible head ache which lasted a week and is persistant until today.Could not eat for about a week. Lost some weight. Was feeling tired for a week and had chest pains but now much better. Had a repit test 2 weeks which was negative.Developed a rase (itchy) around late December on the inner thigh area and is slightly fading now. Recent sore throat but not hsectic however feels like i cannot sollow sometimes. My neck hurts but i am not sure if it was lymph nodes which only lasted about 2 days without swelling. I had another rapid test 25 days later which showed negative but i still feel very terrible and scared. Whats worst is that my wive have had diarrhea a few times now, slight headaches and lower back pain for about 3 days. She also complaining of being very tired recently. I am so scared that i feel i have every symtom within the ARS timeframes. Not sure what to do, going insane. Please share some advise

Hi all ,it's been 63 days post exposure and got another 27 more before the 3 months testing. Just so sure that i might be positive as the wive is suffering with severe headaches, dizziness and body pains including lymphnodes swelling and i am still expeirencing some sore throat, white tounge ,slight headaches and rash on inner thigh.Everyone says that i had no risk but i seriously cannot believe that right now and i guess a person will know if something is wrong with themselves

You never had a risk and don't need testing. You have been advised of this multiple times on this forum as well as Aidsmeds.

Must i wait until 3 months or can i do another rapid test as it has been almost 7 weeks now. Do you think that the rapid antibody test will pick up anything?
I am curious as i have read posts that stated if a person is expeirencing ARS then the test should pick up antibodies, is this true cos surely my 4 week rapid test would have picked it up but then again i think it was too early

Your symptoms are occuring because you are stressing over nothing, when do symptoms ever diagnose HIV.You never had a risk,if you can believe that all these symptoms will go away.

I have looked at the post you are talking about in POZ and I have to say his post and test results, in  my opinion, just don't add up.

Sometimes, people post things that aren't true and also on internet forums sometimes people lie about who they are, what they know and what they do.

Take it all with a pinch of salt.

I believe Teak also advises on POZ, maybe he has more of an idea about what is going on with this poster but beware of what you believe.

He hasn't given any 'evidence' of his status except to say that he is POZ, this follows many many anxiety driven posts from him.

Thanks guys ,anyway yesterday the wife came from work feeling terrible, troat was sore and very tired. went straight to bed and slept. I woke up last night with my entire body numb and a inflamed lymphnode at the back of my neck. When the wife got up this morning she complained that het neck was so sore at the sides. Freaking me out and beginning to accept that i might have contracted HIV.....Now thinking of every way to see how i will find the courage to go on with what i might of done. I honestly know that there is something wrong with my body ,weird things are happening. Chest pains, headaches ect.

Trust me i have no reason to lie Lizzie abouyt my exposure. My biggest concern is what those people mentioned about their symptons and durations of the symptoms.

Bottom line here is that you never had a risk.If you can't accept this fact then I suggest you seek anxiety therapy.

ppl lie about their exposures for many different reasons, ie. to protect themselves from embarrassment, protect their families, save their marriage, etc.

Hi guys, you know somethings are very confuding especially when you read stories from people that recently have aquired HIV - Have been reading on POZ. There are loads of people that have tested at 4 weeks and it was negative however ended up positive. They have all the symptoms that i have and yes they do last sometimes longer than 6 weeks. Some even confirmed that they have had it come in sequences in a sense of different symptoms in different weeks. Some even claim and are really ceratin that they have contracted this via oral sex. I cannot help but look into all of these things and no disrespect to anyone that have responded however my wive and my symptoms are just too scary to be true as well as identical to those that i have read now.

It might be the guilt, but it certainly is not Hiv that is the issue here. You never had a risk, you haven't infected your wife and if you can't accept this fact then you need therapy.I have nothing further to add to this discussion. My best advice to you is to get off the computer and spend time with your family. All the best.

Rainlover i can't get over the fact that i might have been infected and may have infected her (Tears)......We have 2 small kids and i was so stupid.
I feel so miserable that my body feels like it is shutting down, just the thought that i went down on that sex worker. How foolish i was and now all these symptoms in six weeks. How strange

The CDC is ultra conservative and not up with the times, your wifes symptoms are not related to Hiv because she doesn't have the virus and neither do you.The doctors in our expert forum have their own opinions about oral sex and it's zero risk factor and they also have their opinions about window periods for certain Hiv tests which is different to the CDC.
