Can anything affect the result of my HIV test?

I read on the internet, that:

"HIV antibody tests are not affected by other circumstances.
This includes infections, medications, most vaccinations, putting on weight, eating or drinking anything before the test, use of alcohol or recreational drugs, mouthwash or time of day."

Source: http://i-base.info/guides/testing/test-accuracy-results-and-further-testing

But I also read an answer of Dr. HHH, in which he said:

“There is no reason to suppose that inosine or the sort of nutritional supplements you take (Echinechia, Goldenseal, Melatonin, etc.) could have any effect -- and even if they did, it could affect only the antibody tests, not the PCR result.”

So my question is: I have been a frequent user of melatonin for a few years now (taking 5mg a night). Does this effect a 4th gen HIV-Test?

It's not going to affect your test. The only things that will affect tests are serious medical conditions.

True. But he also said: "and even if they did, it could affect only the antibody tests"

And that worries me. So can you calm my worries?

He clearly said there is no reason to suppose it would affect the test.

I know. But I want to know why Dr. HHH is saying that. Or can someone tell me in a very comprehensive and well-argued answer why he is wrong?
