Hello, I am writing today about a worry that I have from what occurred earlier today. At work I was helping out as a nurse aide, assist a nurse as she was doing a catheter flush to a 95 year old man.... Something happened when the nurse flushed the catheter that made fluid shot out from the patients catheter onto my face including contact with my eyes. This fluid may have been mostly normal saline but I am not sure. Afterwards I washed my face and eyes out. I do know that the nurse said the patient had no know diagnosis of HIV and that urine is sterile and there is no reason to worry about HIV transmission . However I am still very worried that somehow I could have contracted this. I would just like to know what my chance of HIV transmission would be in this situation as I am very worried. Also i forgot to add that as a result of allergies my one eye looked blood shot during the time this occured.Thank you for very much for any information to better my understanding.
