Condom broke at the end of insertive vaginal sex with CSW

Dear Doctor,

First of all, I have yet to learn how to add a "donation" here, so I could not escrow some funds for my question here. Please excuse this, i will donate some money as soon as I find a way.

Exactly one week ago I had insertive vaginal intercourse with a commercial sex worker in Germany. She claimed to be from Spain but certainly she was hearing romanian music in the background so her origin probably might be tracked down to one of those two locations.

- She was around 20 years old, from Spain or Romania.
- We were using a condom therefore we were protected most of the time
- At the end of the adventure the condome broke. I remember that it started to feel more intense so I can limit the time of exposure to around 1-3 minutes. After I pulled "him" out (after ejaculation) she got a shock as she noticed that the rubber was broken
- It only broke at the front end (thus exposed parts of my glens) but as I was feeling a difference we can assume that we have a full exposure here.
- Immediately after that she got a shock and asked my if I was clean or not. I rushed to the shower and washed me woody around 10-20 times with soap and warm water.

Since that I developed an alcohol problem, i stopped going to work and I also got suicidal thoughts ... I really fear having infected me with HIV.  Please doctor, can you estimate my risk? I know you always say 1:2000 but I hope you can give me a personal answer.

Nothing in my life seems to make any sense anymore. Sometimes I feel alright, but then I am again 100% confident that i am seroconverted :-( I wanted to have a wife, kids, etc... I am so afraid that I can forget all my plans.

I am at the highest part of my career right now, and i really think "For ****'s sake, what was all this work for?". I feel i have thrown my life away for one stupid adventure :-(

"I doubt that I can do a test because I would immediately kill my self if it turned out positive."

COMING TO THIS FORUM, SPEAKING OF KILLING YOURSELF, IS VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO THOSE HERE WHO HAVE HIV/AIDS OR HAVE A LOVED ONE WHO DOES.

why would we tell you to get tested?

YOU HAD AN EXPOSURE WITH SOMEONE WHOSE STATUS IS UNKNOWN TO YOU.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS...YOU CAN EITHER TEST AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME TO KNOW YOUR STATUS OR YOU CAN WALLOW AROUND IN SELF PITY...DRINKING YOURSELF INTO A STUPOR.

I, PERSONALLY, WOULD RATHER KNOW THAT I "DONT" HAVE HIV THAN LIVE MY LIFE THINKING I DO.

I think I know how you feel. I did the same when I had a HIV scare. I did a lot of probability play like you do. But I don't think any probability play will do us any good. It would continuously repeats itself and you'll get worried again and again.

I think the only way out is to get tested. If it is negative, it would be very good. But if it is positive, it's not the end, there are ways to stay healthy for many years.

I doubt that I can do a test because I would immediately kill my self if it turned out positive.

But ... from your posting I read that there was a high chance???
Someone once told me that odds that she is + are like 1/1000, odds for transmission during intercourse if one partner is + are 1/2000 (specially in such a brief exposure).

Together that would be a Risk of 1:2000000, but if that was true why would you tell me to get tested? I mean the risk of dying from lightning today is also 1:2000000 but you are not telling me to stay at home, so how can the chance be so low and you at the same time seeing a need to test.

Was the risk higher??? :-(

I am totally freaking out, I am again drinking some liquor right now! I can i ever calm down ?!

sounds like, from her reaction to the condom failing, that she was more worried about YOU infecting her with something.

as vance suggested...test to know your status.

Well until you pay and post in the expert forum you don't get a responce from a Dr.

We don't give numbers on this forum. I suggest you seek a therapist as your mental status need help ASAP.

Take a DUO test at 28 days and this will give you a very reliable result, then follow up with a 3 month antibody test for a conclusive result.
