Condom failure risk

My really good friend and I were having anal sex two days ago when one of our condoms broke. A quarter way into our sex (2-3 mins?) we switched to lifestyle condoms. Once we finished, I checked the first condom we used and it had a tear in it. I'm not sure if it occurred when he took it off me or what. We didn't use it very long. I was the top.

He insists that he is negative, and says he has been tested. I have no reason to not trust him, but still I am nervous over it. I've never noticed him being overly ill but then again that isn't good judgment due to how hidden symptoms can be. He works for a hospital as a clerk and says he gets tested every 3 months or so for bonus purposes.

How worried should I be?
