Confused with risk

So, one week ago I had unprotected sex (did not notice broken condom) with a male who I know nothing about, I am female, 22). It was a huge mistake (I know) but I am trying to take all of the precautions after the fact. I had my last STD/HIV tests about 6 weeks ago (all negative).
I am overcome with anxiety and I know it is too soon to test, so I am just wondering how high the risk might be of transmission and when a PCR test can be done?
I am confused with the information on here, i know all unprotected sex is a risk, but I have also read that even if the person had HIV the changes of someone getting it from a one time exposure is low, is this true?

I plan to get tested at the right time but am worried sick and feel very helpless and stupid.
Thank you.

I would recommend you to wait for 28 days and get a IV gen HIV test. An RNA PCR could be taken between 11-21 days. However, it is an expensive test and the actual purpose of the test is quantitative analysis of viral load and not for diagnosis of HIV.

HIV certainly is a fragile virus, however male to female transmission is easier compared to the other way round. I suggest you should speak to your partner and figure out if he is willing to take a test, that can help you a lot at the this juncture.

The right course of action is to wait until 28 days and get a IV gen HIV test, back it up with a final one at 6 week with any standard Antibody test.

Do not google symptoms, stay away from self diagnosis and think positive, not every one we meet and have fun with is HIV positive. Be careful the next time. Always insist on a Jimmy!

Thank you so much for your reply. I am terrified now, I got std results back yesterday and the chlamydia test was positive, I have been treated. But still waiting for syphilis and hiv to come back, i have not been able to keep my mind off of this as i am so scared. I do not know my partner unfortunately, and the encounter is very foggy in my memory, huge mistake. I am very disappointed with myself and my behavior, but nothing I can do now. I am very worried as well because many of the tests came back all at once, except for these two, which left me very concnerned. I am anxiously awaiting these results, and so scared. Even though I know it was too soon to test from this encounter. I will certainly be going again in 28 days. Thank you again
There are less people with HIV than chlamydia so try not to associate the two.
Time for results to arrive has nothing to do  with disease potential and more to do with lab scheduling, so ignore that.
Thank you for your reply, I have read on this site that having other stds increases the risk of contracting HIV, so that is why I was associating the two. Oh okay, I just was worried because I thought that they might be holding the tests to do some confirmatory work, I get tested very often and results usually come back at the same time. Thank you for this information this was very helpful.
I had to wait 4 weeks for a negative biopsy that usually takes a week, fwiw. Googling can only increase your anxiety because there is no useful info, so cold turkey stopping Googling will help relax you.
Thank you, yeah I have been reading posts on here like crazy trying to assess my risk but I realize that will do nothing for me or the outcome, I appreciate your comments, thanks again.

pcr test looks for the virus itself. you can test during the window period for most accuracy due to high viral load if you are infected.
yes it is true.
