Cytomegalovirus Retinitis (CMV Retinitis)

Is Cytomegalovirus Retinitis (CMV Retinitis) an Acute HIV sympton? I had pink eye that I am worried it is

CMV but is this an Acute HIV sympton?

Hi,

Go to an opthalmologist and do a retina dialted exam...it will show you what u have.

CMV as people said is not a symptom but is caused if CD4 count decreases and you have weak immune system.

NO it's not an ARS symptom. You have conjunctivitis. If you are concerned and it lasts for a long time see your Doctor or optician.

It is likely you have it from sitting too long at your computer screen looking for symptoms to validate the notion that you have HIV.

Most of the adult population has been exposed to CMV.  Immunosuppressed individuals can see a reactivation of the disease which can effect multiple organ systems. This is usually not seen until cd4 drops below 100.

CMV Retinitis (a herpes virus) would not be mistaken for pink eye.
