During the period of HIV blocking drugs, can they be transmitted to others?

My English is not very good, Hello Doctor, after an unprotected sexual intercourse, I took HIV blockers for 7 days, and my girlfriend had unprotected sexual intercourse for about 3 minutes without shooting. Is it possible for me to infect her? The HIV test before I took the medicine turned out to be negative.

You - Assuming, you had unprotected vaginal / anal intercourse with a partner of unknown serostatus, this might put you at a risk for HIV contraction. 7 days of PEP might be ineffective. You need to test at 28 days from the last dosage of PEP with a IV Gen HIV test or with any standard anti body test at 6 weeks for a conclusive.

Your girlfriend - You did put her at a risk, the same testing timeline applies from the date of exposure for her if she needs to test independently.

You could wait and get your test at the aforesaid timeline in order to avoid her getting tested provided, she is in a monogamous relationship with you.

"Does my girlfriend need to take HIV blockers?"

Did you have an exposure with some one who is a known positive, why are you so concerned about acquiring HIV?
I had an unprotected relationship with an Asian prostitute, and after 22 hours I took blockers. I'm not sure if she's HIV-infected.

In that case, I don't think you need to worry much. It's very unlikely that you acquired HIV from this exposure. Just take a test at the mentioned timeline from the last date of your PEP medication. FTM transmission is difficult as the virus is fragile, it is usually observed that for a male to get infected from a positive female partner, it usually takes multiple exposure.

I personally feel your girlfriend should not get on PEP. However, the matter of PEP is something that should be worked with a specialist in consultation and not online.

Not to forget that CSW was most probably HIV negative and you are assuming she could be positive, that is an important factor to consider while prescribing PEP.

PEP is usually recommended to someone who had a potential exposure with a known positive. You or your GF didn't really qualify for PEP.
Thank you very much for your patient reply. It has helped me a lot. I will try to consult the local HIV specialist tomorrow. I will not take drugs for the time being.

Was it oral, anal or vaginal with the prostitute?
vaginal
