Eye contact.

Dear doctors, something worried me today. I was waiting for someone in the corridor of the hospital. When I looked down at my phone, a person with gauze on his hand passed in front of me, and some blood oozed from the gauze. My bangs are long and come down to my eyes. When I looked up, I started to worry that my hair might have touched his blood and then my eyes. Is there a risk of HIV infection?

This is not how HIV works.  HIV is spread in very specific ways that include having unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing IV drug needles. Someone simply passing you by with gauze that has blood on it is not going to give you HIV.  In the OFf CHANCE that blood oozed enough to flick in your hair and then into your eye, this would not transmit the virus . The blood is exposed to air and air inactivates the virus.  I would have to ask you from this scenario you describe if you have an anxiety disorder?  It is what we call an irrational fear.
