Fell of the Worry Wagon

Gang,

It's been quite awhile since my last post, thought I was doing pretty well getting over my anxiety.  Negative HIV test at 9 months, infectious disease doc told my primary care that crohn's would not impact conversion or delay results.  So in my mind, thought all was good.  Here's my challenge..... and the reason for me falling off the wagon sort to speak....

recent MRI showed no swelling lymph nodes in neck, but did show "small shotty" lymph nodes.  Otherwise, radiologist report gave the all clear to any abnormalities.  Should feel relieved right?

Stupid me, did some research on "shotty" lymph nodes and guess what popped up as a possible cause... "HIV" - magine that...... which started the wheels turning again.....

It has been 11 months since i have not felt well, all tests have come back normal or negative.  Issues that I am having, are neck pain, arm pit pain, down back of arm, one side only (no swelling) ankle pain (just above) burning ear, tongue irritated (ENT says no issues, looks normal)

Just looking for a bit of reassurance and compassion as i try to hop back on the wagon.

thanks for listening.......

Hey Daniel,

I am dealing with the exact same sort of anxiety.  I have HPV and such symptoms are very similar to HIV...it has been tremendously difficult dealing with symptoms, especially since my mind convinces myself that my HPV symptoms are really HIV symptoms (ie warts on my tongue, brown spots on my penis tip, aching joints)  All of these symptoms are due to a VIRUS.  It is a VIRUS--instead of the Immunodificiency virus, it is a papilloma virus.   Unfortunatly for my weak mind, I am unable to accept my negative HIV results (due to internet sites advice that not all ELISA tests are 100% accurate).  If you want to chat about your anxiety, feel free to contact me here.  I know how difficult it can be to overcome the thought of being "HIV Positive" when in fact you are not.   Take consolation that you are not the only one dealing with such anxiety and begin to focus on the fact that it is really difficult to contract HIV #1, and most cases are homosexual encounter where tearing of the skin is essential for transmission.  I would tell you to relax, but the fact of the matter is that I am still dabbling with these forums in order to ease my own anxiety.  Search out STD counselors and such.
