Because the blood enters via the urethra. There is in some cases sufficient bleeding to cause the infection. However the risk for the top is less than for the bottom. It's a bit like Russian Roulette - chances are you won't get HIV, yet there is a real possibility that you may get HIV from unprotected anal sex, even as the top. Therefore no expert will ever recommend or state that unprotected anal sex for both the giver and the receiver as  safe and will always recommend the use of condoms for protection. Rimming however is safe and you can post multiple times on this forum and receive the same answer. Please note I mean safe for HIV.

Sir, i remembered another thing. i met the guy on net, before we played, i gave a bottle of water to him. he drank some and spit to my mouth. i held it in my mouth for a while and spit out. now i am worrying there were blood in his mouth. and if there were small cuts in my mouth, i might at risk, right? thank you!

i know i am overly anxious. i am so tired of testing again and again after each sex activity, even though with protection and great care. so this time, i absolutely don't have to go to have an HIV test, right?

Thank you sir again!

Theoretical risks do not equate to practical risk - there is a theoretical risk you could catch HIV from a toilet seat, but there is no evidence for this therefore no practical risk. I think your question has been answered numerous times so I would suggest you see a specialist to help you with your extreme anxiety.

CDC is a highly conservative government organization that would rather be ultra safe then not. You had no risk.

Mostly they are rumours or are theoritical. Rimming has never been and will never be a risk for HIV. That is not how HIV transmits. Every virus has their entry point and theres a huge difference between mucous membranes in the mouth, anal area and urethra. Anal and urethra membranes are very very sensitive and can receive infections easily.

There are sources on the internet stating people getting HIV via kissing and toilet seats too. Its up to you to believe practical or theoretical writeups.

I just found that US CDC still consider rimming a way of HIV transmission, i don't know why since no one gets it that way......made me nervous again.

Thank you again for your patience.
since there are not sufficient viruses out there in a man's anus, i wonder how top gaymen get infected from anal sex? because the bottom's anus is bleeding? otherwise top has no risks at all?

I'll spell it out. The virus in faeces is not in diffident number to cause an infection. HIV thrives in blood and semen. The faeces is in short a waste product of the body. Generally there is no blood involved. Even if there were blood it's normally insufficient for HIV to be transmitted. Of course if he had obtuse rectal bleeding there would be an increased risk but would you want to stick your tongue into his anus if this was the case. In addition the tongue also has a protective coating and coupled with the saliva produced in the mouth, which deactivates the virus, the chances of a HIV infection is negligible. When I say negligible I mean for practical purposes no risk. This includes if you had an ulcer on your tongue at the time.

thank you. i just want to know why. since there are viruses in anus and my tongue was into it, why wouldn't the viruses infect me vis my tongue?

He's been told this in another thread. I don't understand why people would think we'd come up with different answers.
