HIV-1 DNA RT- PCR With HIV Antibodies test

In the next few days I will receive the results of a HIV-1 DNA RT- PCR With HIV Antibodies test.  The test was taken 32 days after possible exposure (unprotected vaginal sex).

How accurate is the test? Will the test be conclusive? I read online that this is an advanced test and the only type that can give early accurate results.

Please advise as the last few days (and last month) have been extremely painful both mentally and physically.

Thank you.

I just received my results to the HIV DNA RT by PCR. Thank God the results are Negative!

The comment on the lab report states:

Patient's specimen is NEGATIVE for Human Immunodeficiency Virus Proviral DNA for RT Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Amplification method. Negative results do NOT rule out the possibility of HIV infection. PCR results should be used in conjunction with other laboratory test results and the patient's clinical profile.

So, what does that really mean? I thought this is the best most advanced test early on to determine if I am infected. The test was taken 32 days after possible exposure. Am I in the clear?

I've been living through pure he'll the last month and this is the fourth test taken. The first three were the standard tests including s rapid test taken 28 days after possible exposure. This last test taken, to my knowledge, is the most advanced. All four tests have been negative.

Ease my mind and calm me please.

1. You also said that you heard that even people that are HIV positive are not caught on this test ----> I NEVER SAID IT

2. My question to you is, can you give any written/web posting evidence saying that HIV RNA PCR may not detect Virus during the period of SEROCONVERSION

(The extract : You also said that you heard that even people that are HIV positive are not caught on this test. There is not much to say about that other than it is simply not true. I am not sure where or why that would be said. The DNA PCR is the absolute most sensitive test for HIV. In terms of measurement capacity, it can detect as little as 10 copies of proviral DNA per milliliter of whole blood. Even the most sensitive HIV RNA PCR test can only detect 40-50 copies per ml.)

Can u elaborate, whether PCR RNA can detect HIV Virus during Seroconvertion period or not. Tks

PCR-RNA test is the only PCR test approved to help detect early HIV infection. PCR-DNA test are monitoring tests for those that are known to be infected.

Even if patient is Seroconverting and not on medication, even then RNA RT PCR will pick up the Virus. As this test looks for as little as 20 copies of virus/ml

FYI... CDC also recommends this test for HIV detection but they dont recommend DNA RT PCR

Would appreciate other members comment on above

HIV 1 RNA PCR is a viral load detection technique sometimes ineffective when the patient is serocoverting. DNA PCR would invariably be reactive even during those tricky 0 viral load periods.FDA approval is needed for the procedures carried out in the USA.Every country has different norms like here in Australia you can get a DNA PCR test & once negative you are not required to test again.

Thats the mother of all HIV tests ... That hunts directly for the host CD4+ T Lymphocyte and doesn't depend on the Anti Bodies to decide the patient's status.

The stage known as ' Aattachment ' during which the CD4  Co receptors such as CCR5  interact with viruses protine complexes like GP 120, GP 41. Thats even during the window period (Before seroconversion). DNA PCR would amplify the sample many times over to trace such host and give you a exact true result.

If you 're PCR negative you can rest assured that you don't have HIV.

Good Luck...
