Hi,
I have taken hiv-1 antibodies test which called HIV 1/O/2 abs-ICMA test (083824) three times at 3, 5, and 9 months post exposure with a female from Indonesia (Southeast Asia). Also, I have done two EIA tests at 3 years post exposure. All tests are negative.
I'm looking for an answer to below question:
Does this test HIV 1/O/2 abs-ICMA which done by labcorp detects HIV type 1, subtype O, and HIV 2??
Information from lapcorp page:
Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1/O/2 (HIV-1/O/2) Antibodies, Preliminary Test With Confirmation
Methodology: Immunochemiluminometric assay (ICMA); Western blot.
Additional Information: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV 1/O/2), the etiologic agent of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), is a cytopathic retrovirus. This test uses recombinant antigen sources and detects antibodies by specific immune binding and subsequent chemiluminescent reaction (ICMA technology). Sensitivity and specificity of this assay are 100% and 99.9%, respectively. Sera which are repeatedly reactive in two out of three tests are subject to confirmatory HIV-1 testing by the Western blot method. Some individuals may be initially reactive by the preliminary test and negative or indeterminate by Western blot. This may be caused by other viral antibodies or autoantibodies which cross react with the viral antigens, although this is extremely rare.
Thanks for any help,
