HIV/Bathroom Exposure

I was visiting a health clinic today to get tested for stds/HIV. I tested negative for HIV -- a few hours after I realized that I had used the bathroom there and touched the faucet knobs, door knob, etc.. if an HIV positive person used the bathroom and did the same, is there a chance the virus caught on to my hands and then my clothing? Also, I had eaten right after this.. is there a chance I am infected? How long does the virus live for outside of the body? Thanks very much!!
