Worried I think i am infected

Hi, my name is mitra.. I am 26 years old male from India.
I had sex with sex worker 3 months back. during sexual intercourse my condom broke.
i noticed this within few minutes, I immidiately stopped there and washed my penis under running tap water.
Then I took treatment. I had PEP ( combination of two drugs lamivudine + stavudine ) for 4 weeks.
I am still worried that i might be infected.
Please help me with this.

Forgot to mention, above every thing, the PEP that you took adds up to the chances of you not contracting the virus. Taking all the opposing scenarios in to the picture, I personally think, you'd be okay.

k I will tell what my exposure is I had unprotected sex with a sex worker few month's back and after 2 month's post exposure I came to know that she is HIV positive I was scared to get tested but still I went and go tested and I was declared negative. The only way to know ur status is testing.

Mitra,

We can't really make you hear, what you want to hear in this forum. We only assist analyzing the exposure and suggest the necessary testing protocol from what we have researched and learnt over a period of time. For psychological help, you would need to post in the appropriate forum.

However, from what you have posted here today, I can only tell you that a PEP was not really required for the nature of exposure you have mentioned. Generally, the chances of one acquiring the virus through one time heterosexual sex with a known positive individual is said to be low. Secondly, there is a very good chance that the CSW was NOT HIV positive, considering the business they are in to, they themselves are pretty aware about the disease and ensure utmost care to stay protected from it. Also, to add more to it, the time that you were exposed was relatively lesser - a few minutes probably, it was not even a complete episode of penetrative sexual exposure.

With all the above scenarios, the chances of you acquiring the virus is slim. Go ahead take your conclusive test 3 months post the last dosage of your PEP. I or the most here wouldn't be surprised when you post your negative here on your 3 month's test.

Please take your time to read about the correct usage of condoms to ensure you don't go through this again.

Good Luck.

PEP is usually reserved for those who had an exposure with someone who is known hiv positive.  dont even know why you were put on it.

successful?  odds?

the ONLY way to know your status is by testing...PERIOD
