HIV exposure on Saturday

I unfortunately had an HIV exposure on Saturday with a porn star I put the condom on him and sadly the condom broke. I immediately went to the emergency room this happened around 10 or 11pm and I was in ER within 20 mins after it. I had my first pep pills by 1:30-2am. I don’t know the guys status he just said he was clean but I know in his videos there’s never any condoms I know it was a dumb move I should have never did it but it happened. Am I likely to have caught hiv from this experience? I don’t know how long the condom broke I know he didn’t ejaculate because I realized it was broke I stopped and drove straight to the hospital.

We can't do "What-if". I repeat, the right thing to do in your situation is to wait for 28 days post finishing PEP.

Also, PEP and testing matters should be discussed with your doctor instead of an online forum.

RNA NAT is an expensive test, it is not a substitute for a definitive result that has to be attained with a standard antibody test at 6 weeks. Therefore, should you decide to go for HIV 1 RNA NAT, you will still have to get a final one at 6 weeks with a IV Gen HIV test or any standard antibody test.

I get that if it makes any sense I just have no peace of mind right now and a negative RNA next week would help me make it through the next 6-8 weeks after. I am having a hard time right now I can’t sleep or eat.
No HIV test can provide you with a reliable result until you finish your PEP.

You must focus on the fact that PEP is highly effective and the earlier you start it, it is better for you. You did the right thing starting it very early. Also, the probability of your partner being HIV positive is low since most people wouldn't lie about their sero-status when asked directly.

If we need to assume for a moment that he is indeed positive, he must have been on ART and that creates a high possibility of his viral load low to none, that makes him less infectious.

I suggest you to stay calm, finish your PEP. Test at the timeline we have discussed before. I have a strong feeling that you are okay. Just take it easy.

Next week I mean
No.  No test you take will be accurate while you're on PEP.

I don’t know how I am going to get through 56 days of this. I assume an RNA test next week won’t help because I’m on pep? I just want to know I will be ok I did everything right this was completely an accident.

RNA NAT is not recommended for general diagnostic purpose. It's is only recommended if you had an exposure with a known positive partner.

For your situation, the recommendation remains as told to you earlier - wait for 28 days post finishing PEP and get a IV Gen HIV test.

Most people won't lie about their HIV status when asked directly. It is certain that he blocked you out because no one wants to be pestered with HIV questions.

You did the right thing to ensure your own safety. It is very likely that your partner isn't HIV positive. However, considering the fact that your partner engages in unprotected anal sex with multiple partners (High risk demography). It is important to eradicate any doubt and worry - PEP needed to be taken.

The right course of action for you is:
1. Finish your PEP for 28 days, do not miss your dose, if for some unforseen circumstance, you do miss a dose, it is better to take the pills a bit late rather than not at all. Check with your doctor, but don’t double your next dose. Keep away from symptom surfing they don't mean a thing.

2. You need to wait for 28 days from the date of your last PEP dosage and get tested on a IV Gen HIV test. At that point your result will be indicative, back that up with a final one at 6 week for a conclusive.
