HIV risk???

Hi,
A couple of days ago I was in a rough neighbourhood waiting at a bus to arrive. I was wearing flip flops and as I stood there I was to my suprise standing on top of a syringe with a needle attached. A day after I suddenly started to worry about HIV. I did not at the time feel a needle poke, but how likely is it to be transmitted by HIV if the needle stuck me in the foot? Is it possible to transmit HIV by accidentially beeing stuck by a needle laying somewhere out in the environment ?

It has to be injected and immediately after the last person used it, otherwise the hiv dies from the air contact. Since you weren't injected and there wasn't anyone lying on the ground hanging onto it you had no risk.
