HIV symptoms - scared

Last week, After a night out drinking I went to a gay sauna. I was there a couple of hours, had a mixture of oral and anal (protected I think) with a few guys. To be honest I can't remember it all. Its a week later and I'm now having aches in my groin and abdominal pains. The lymph nodes in my groin are tender, just had the runs and I'm nasaeous. I know that HIV can't be diagnosed from symptoms but I've never had symptoms like these before. I'm really freaked out. I'll obviously get tested again in a few weeks but I can't handle the stress until then. Anyone help with advice? Is it possible that this could be something else? Any answers appreciated

If the rapid test was 4th gen your results at 4 weeks is as good as conclusive! Take care!

So rapid test was negative :) Doctor said it was around 80% reliable at four weeks and to test again at 12 weeks. To anyone who is going through a similar situation all I can say is get tested and hang in there. My risk was real and my symptoms were real but I accept I was catastrophying my symptoms due to fear. Thanks for the help, I'm truly humbled.

First test was negative but unfortunately it's pretty meaningless as it was only 11 days after the risk date. I'm testing again today as it's 28 days now.
The last couple of weeks have been the hardest in my life :(
Praying that I can post some good news here.

I tested at 2 weeks post exposure and my results are due Monday.

My last post was removed and I'm pretty upset by that. I'm experiencing very real symptoms after a high risk exposure. I think it's valid to describe my symptoms here followed by my test results. It may help others in future.

After 20 days my symptoms so far have been :

Abdominal and lower back pains / aches (near constant)
Flu-like illness for a few days
swollen tender nodes in neck & groin (near constant)
Dry mouth
Canker sores (never had before)
Random pains in legs and wrists
Fatigue

I would appreciate if this post is not removed - I'm a gay man who has had a high risk situation. I'm not one of the hypochondriacs on here. I will post my results here next week.

sorry didnt finish .i wanted to make those suggestions because i am hopeful that boosting your immunity may give your body a chance of clearing something or at least to help you feel a little better until the time of your test.i hope you feel better soon be well.

the problem with trying to diagnose by symptoms is there are so many stds that have at least a couple symptoms that match each other . syphillis cab actually present many of the same symptoms of hiv even the rash on the chest sometimes.but one thing is i noticed you said its been about a week if thats so it would seem to be a little on the early side with hiv to present symptoms i think that bacterial infections might present themselves sooner .so what im suggesting is not to rule out other types of infection .and if i may suggest one more thing i would like to recommend eating certain vegetables like garlic, white button mushrooms ,broccoli .also certain teas like green tea and pekoe tea any thing with vitaminc .turmeric.berries  .

the reason i suggested specific items on the list is becuase they are items on the top of the list for boosting immune function ,the teas also have antiviral antibacterial ,and antifungal properties . also berries are antioxidants blueberries being one of them.two of my favorites are coconut oil and glutamine helps the body produce glutathione wich is a powerful  antioxidant .

you are experiencing issues in the gut so you will have to determine which of thes things you can handle right now

The waiting would be a whole lot easier if someone with experience was able to put my mind slightly more at ease I guess. Even getting a response on here has helped cause theres no way I could talk to friends or family about this.

Ignore the symptoms, unfortunately testing for HIV is a waiting game. Because you might over interpret every small thing that happens to you. Try to relax till day 28 for a 4th gen test. My advice is get support from your friends or family. This is not something you should face alone. God bless!

Thank you for the comment - I'm praying it's something like Hep (how stupid am I to put myself in a situation where I'm praying to have Hep).
Unfortunately it's impossible not to obsess right now...the glands in my neck have swollen, pains in my lower back and belly continuing and I've dry mouth. It's 9 days since poss exposure. Ive never felt aches and pains like this without having flu. I'm actually afraid to look at my torso because if I have a rash I'll totally freak out.

A full std test would be prudent at 4-6 weeks. Good luck!

im no dr but it kinda sounds more toward the gastro end of things.like maybe pylori or possibly hep. but you definitly had a risk and you might want to get tested at 28 days and again at 3 months if you dont find anything right away but dont obcess with hiv you might want to do a complete panel a cbc with differential can reveal certain markers yoour dr will know what to look for.i hope these suggestions are helpful try not to stresschances are it is something else and most things are treatable or cureable .(safe sex)be well .

If you were uncertain or to drunk to remember if you had unprotected anal sex. Please see a doctor for PEP. High risk better take the appropriate measures.
