Risk of transmission from hiv+ semen directly to the eye?

I am a man who had protected oral sex with a recently contracted HIV+ man found on Grindr. I understand that there is minimal to no risk with transmission via the mouth because of the condom, however knowing he is recently HIV positive would mean his viral load was very high. He wanted to cum on my chest, so I let him take the condom off, but he overshot and some went directly in my eyes and into my nose. I’m very worried about contracting HIV, especially after reading some stories about documented transmission of HIV through the eye..

As stated by your members, we are guided by the experts and what you describe is not regarded as a risk.  Please speak to your own doctor.

I concur with Anxiousnomore, oral sex is not a true risk for HIV transmission.  You are getting hung up with CDC who is speaking in terms of theoretical risk.  Which is not actual risk.  There is not a single case of HIV transmitting from oral sex in the long history of HIV.  Not a single proven case. You won't be the first.  Air and saliva deactivate the virus.  Again, experts in the field of HIV in particular guide the stance of this forum.  The only risks for HIV are unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing IV drug needles.  People also do not get HIV from a needle stick or dealing with wounds.  It just doesn't happen.  When these were large fears, it was when HIV was knew and we didn't know how it transmitted. The risk of getting HIV from a needlestick injury is less than 1%. The risk of exposure from direct skin contact with the fluid is less than 0.1%. Those are your health care worker risks. You will not get HIV from your activity.  You don't even need to test.

The oral sex wasn’t the issue for me because it was protected, rather it was his known HIV+ semen going directly into my eye.

As mentioned above, under the right conditions, oral sex HAS been known and proven to transmit HIV, despite being very low to no risk, so idk where you’re getting your information from when you say “not a single proven case”
This is not a risk.  This is not how people get HIV.  Absolutely not, you do not get HIV under the right conditions. That is inaccurate.  There is not a single PROVEN documented case of that happened.  Period.  This isn't a risk and we use expert doctors to guide that stance of the forum.
worstchristmasever - I'm not sure why you keep coming back here asking questions. Every time you receive an answer you tell us, "No that isn't right, you have already hunted around the internet and found the answer (to your own question) so you know better than we do."
The reason I keep coming back is because of this:

He was in the same position I am in now.

Why would Dr. Hook say it is a definite risk, when you guys are saying that it's a defintively ZERO risk?

Your situation involves personal contact with an object in air  ( semen in eyes, nose, etc.). No hiv worries, because you can't get hiv from personal contact except unprotected penetrating vaginal or anal, neither of which you did and you didn't share hollow needles to inject with which is the only other way to acquire hiv. Analysis of large numbers of infected people over the 40 years of hiv history has proven that people don't get hiv in the way you are worried is a risk.
HIV is a fragile virus in air or saliva and is effectively instantly dead in either air or saliva so the worst that could happen is dead virus rubbed you, and obviously anything which is dead cannot live again so you are good. Blood and cuts would not be relevant in your situation since the hiv has become effectively dead, so you don't have to worry about them to be sure that you are safe.
There is no reason for a person to test when they are safe. The advice took into consideration that the other person might be positive, so move on and enjoy life instead of thinking about this non-event. hiv prevention is straightforward since there are only 3 ways you can become infected, so next time you wonder if you had a risk, ask yourself this QUESTION. "Did I do any of the 3?" Then after you say "No, I didn't" you will know that it's time to move on back to your happy life. For example in your current situation the answer would be NO, I DIDN'T because there was no unprotected penetrating anal or vaginal sex nor was there any use of a shared hollow needle used for injection, so obviously it is a NO risk.
His high viral load is irrelevant since if it was high, the worst case scenario is it was a high dead viral load.
We rely on the opinion of expert doctors and do not pay attention to claims people make about what they have read on other sites or else we will be here arguing all day. The first step to a good Xmas season is to stop going to those sites and instead forget about this non-event.

Why does the CDC say that it is a possible route of transmission if it’s no risk?

Also, where can I find peer reviewed research stating that HIV is dead when exposed to the air immediately, because everything I’ve seen has said that as long as the semen isn’t dry, it’s not dead?

If people have become positive through occupational exposure with blood which is said to have less virus than semen, then how is this no risk?
CDC uses theoretical risks that have never occurred in history. How useless is that kind of advice? Maybe they want to cover their bases in case someone gets it in the 25th century.
It has been calculated that the risk of hiv from oral is less than that of a meteorite hitting you as you read this. You don't even think about meteorites so why waste your life thinking about something with less probability? If he had Covid you would have contracted it and had a chance of dying so your priorities are misplaced when you focus on what has not occurred over the 40 years. No one will get hiv from oral in the next 40 years of your life either.
You don't spend your day doing research on the 5,000 other diseases or conditions that can occur without warning whether from infection or bad luck, so it makes no sense to waste one minute researching what has so far amounted to a theoretical risk.
My point is, semen that is confirmed HIV infected semen, directly shot from the penis and into the eye, will have been in the air for a split second. Even if the outer surface area of HIV semen is killed when exposed to air, there is still the part of the semen that hasn’t been exposed.

I’m not trying to be  argumentative or rude, I’m just trying to understand fully with the research: Where does it say that HIV is instantly killed?

Oral sex HAS been known to transmit HIV given the right conditions, despite it being such low risk, so how can you say with 100% full certainty that, that guy’s confirmed HIV+ semen shot into my eye is absolutely 0 risk for transmission?
ORAL sex has NOT been known to transmit HIV.  Not a single documented proven case in 40 years.  And semen into your eye is not a risk either.  Period. You were told the three ways it is transmitted. Unless you have done one of those three things, you have ZERO risk.
