High risk of HIV exposure?

Doctor,

I really need your help here.  On May 3rd, I had protected sex with an femaile escort.  After about 1 minute of intercourse, I looked down and noticed blood on the condom.  I immediately pulled out and found there to be a significant amount of blood all over the condom.  She told me that I must have brought on her period.

She removed the condom but I noticed tiny drops of blood on my testicles.  I immediately cleaned up and asked her to leave my hotel room.

I am driving myslef crazy.  I am almost certain my lymph nodes are enlarged in my neck, groin and armpits.  I am 6 foot and weigh 165 lbs, would I be able to feel the lymph nodes if they were not enlarged?

Also, I had sex with my wife 3 nights after the event because everthing seemed fine.  I did not ejaculate in her but if I am positive, what is her risk?  To make matters worse, the next night we found out she was 4 weeks pregnant.

What do I do? I am ashamed and am afraid I ruined our lives.  What is my risk?  My wifes?  The baby? WIll a RAPID HIV test show results this early?

I am an idiot and only hope I get a second chance here.

Thank you for your time.

Polyurethane would still protect you from HIV, I believe. Lambskin would not, but nobody uses lambskin. Those are really a novelty item.

Thanks, I greatly appreciate your quick response.

She provided the condom so I am fearing that she used polyurethane or lambskin instead of latex.

I am an idiot.

You wore a condom so you were protected regardless of whether or not she was bleeding. You at zero risk for HIV because the head of your penis and more specifically the urethrea was covered entirely during the entire act. The urethrea is the membrane that HIV transmission would have went through and since it was covered with latex there was no risk at all. The blood on the condom and on your testicles does not put you at risk one bit.

Please do not try to guess at symptoms like glands and such, you will drive yourself crazy. And stay off the net too.

You, your wife, and your baby are at no risk at all. I understand your concerns and i know that guilt can really screw with your head but trust me you were never at risk for HIV. Continue to use condoms and you will never catch HIV.

Take care.
