Hiv risk from having gum disease

Worried. I have gingivitis. I recently made out with a girl perceived to have hiv. She isn't on meds so her viral load is sky high. I didn't know she was positive until after the fact. The problem is that I experienced ars symptoms 12 days after the exposure. Ie: sore throat, headache, stuffy nose, raised rash on neck and chest, also thigh and leg pains. I can't tell if I had a solid fever. However, I did feel heat flashes or burning sensations in the face and ears.

My issue is I talked to an hiv doctor at ucsf. The doctor told me there was a tremendous risk for infection with gingivitis or bleeding gums. Also wrote: You said you had gingivitis at time of exposure.  People with gingivitis typically have a small amount of chronic gum bleeding which is a potential route of transmission.  What if your partner also had gingivitis too?

I can only find one documented case of hiv being transmitted in this manner. My worry is because my gums bleed when I brush. Now I'm paranoid. Why did this dr tell me there was a significant risk.

Did I experience ars? Do I need to test?

If it were a needle would I truly have know. Would it have stayed stuck in my foot for me to have to remove it. Like I said it hurt bad. It was something sharp.

What's the risk from a puncture wound to the foot. The same night I didn't have shoes on and something stabbed me in the heal. Could it halve been a needle. It was dark out I couldn't see. Just remember my heal hurting bad.

Wrong again, the saliva will destroy the HIV before it can enter your bloodstream via your bleeding gums.Enough now.

Kissing with blood present in the saliva has transmitted the virus in the past. The CDC even reports the risk. Thanks.

Vance you don't understand. I have actively bleeding gums. This is the way it was transmitted. My gums bleed very easily. It was after I came into contact with the virus through kissing that I got sick.

Yes we can say they were not ARS symptoms as you never had a risk.

You can't say it wasn't ars symptoms. When they match them spot on. The time frame was spot on too. I will try to work up the courage to test soon. I just have to mentally prepare for it.

I won't write anymore after this. I did experience ars. I had the sore throat, stabbing leg pains and trunk rash. I have never had this combo of symptoms in my life. They all appeared 2 weeks post exposure.

Could you please supply some information about how saliva inhibits the virus. Also on how risk exposures are non existent from deep kissing. I have see you post scholarly journals from medical professionals in the past.

Thanks Teak

You never had a risk and don't need testing.

I only engaged in French kissing for about a half hour with the girl. NOTHING MORE. Why would an hiv doctor from UCSF say something like that. Why did I experience the intense ARS like symptoms.

Do I test for hiv? Why did the doctor "strongly urge" testing?

Could it be that I live in SF where hiv infection numbers are crazy high?

Those doctors are wrong--no risk--move on.

You don't have an HIV concern. HIV is not transmitted by oral sex. Doesn't matter if you have a gum disease or not.
