How accurate are my HIV testing results?
Hello Everyone,
Roughly four months ago I returned from a holiday to Europe. During this trip, I received an erotic massage (no protection) followed by protective (wearing latex condom) vaginal sex with a female sex worker in a brothel. After returning home, I was extremely stressed worrying about HIV that I asked my Doctor to take a full STD panel to put my mind at ease, this test was taken approx. 4 weeks post exposure. The entire panel came back negative, however, I then read that it can take up to 12 weeks for results to be conclusive as the number of antibodies my be insufficient anytime prior. Still worried I purchased an OraQuick in-home oral testing kit at both 8 and 12 weeks and they both came back negative. I have the following questions regarding my results:
1. The test that my Doctor ordered at four weeks was called a "HIV-1/O/2.EPI" test (this is how it is displayed on my results). How can I determine if this was a 3rd or 4th generation HIV test? Was this test accurate at 4 weeks post exposure?
2. Are the OraQuick test that I took at 8 and 12 weeks conclusive or do I need to take another test?

Sorry I made a mistake. First sentence should be this. Your situation involves personal contact with an object in air (her hands, maybe her body, etc, which is not a risk for hiv.)

Your situation involves personal contact with an object in air (penis, scrotum, cum, etc, which is not a risk for hiv.) No worries, because you can't get hiv from personal contact except unprotected penetrating vaginal or anal, neither of which you did and you didn't share hollow needles to inject with which is the only other way to acquire hiv. Analysis of large numbers of infected people over the 40 years of hiv history has proven that people don't get hiv in the way you are worried is a risk.
HIV is a fragile virus in air or saliva and is effectively instantly dead in either air or saliva so the worst that could happen is dead virus rubbed you, and obviously anything which is dead cannot live again so you are good. Blood and cuts would not be relevant in your situation since the hiv has become effectively dead, so you don't have to worry about them to be sure that you are safe.
There is no reason for a person to test when they are safe, so move on back to your happy life. You can't get hiv when you used a condom so any testing was a waste of time so it will always give you a negative.
