Is ANTI-HIV ECLIA Test conclusive while on medicine at the 7th week?

HIV and AIDS Question
DoctorQuestion04-29-2016
Hi I had sex with a sex worker on Feb 25,2016. After returning home I had Symptom such as sore body, sore throat, and penis hurts when peeing. So I went to see a doctor and he gave me the following medicine: fucole paran, urogen, tagamet, and solaxin. ( I believe it is for Urethritis) On April 14, while still on those medicine, I had a ANTI-HIV ECLIA test, the result is negative(0.154).

So is the test conclusive?
The reason that I am asking this is because today, April29, my throat really hurts again and measured body temperature is 37C, slightly higher then normal. And I am afraid the medicine would have effects on the test.

Thank you

The test you took at 7 weeks, depending on who you ask, more than likely was conclusive, but the experts we rely upon for our information all strongly recommend a 12 week follow up confirmatory test. This test WILL give you 100% conclusive results.

I am NOT a doctor and will not argue or debate your doctors learned decision............if he states your test IS 100% conclusive, then further testing would be for YOUR peace of mind.

I wish you the best

What I mean by "risk" is asking if the sex was protected or unprotected......did you use a condom?

If you used a condom and it did not fail (break) then you never had a risk.
If you did NOT use a condom, getting tested was the right thing to do and I stand by my response to your questions.

Hi RubyWitch,
We did used a condom; however, she did use a hand and touching the outside of the condom during sex. (Not sure if she did touched me or not.)

That's why I want to check if the ANTI-HIV ECLIA test after 7 weeks was conclusive or not. Thank you

What was your risk?

Your test at approximately 6 weeks is considered conclusive by many experts, but many experts recommend having a confirmatory test at 12 weeks for 100% conclusive results. I recommend you follow your doctor or clinics advice about any further testing.

There is no medical condition and no medication that delays HIV antibody or otherwise alters HIV test results. That includes the medication(s) you were taking. (Potent chemotherapy drugs may do it, but even that is theoretical without any actual known instances of it actually happening.)
