There's no need for the OP of this thread to update. His "risk" was oral sex, which isn't a risk, and if he tests, it will be pointless and negative.
We’re in the same boat brother, just try to relax and calm your nerves... worrying won’t do you any good.... i had the same kind of exposure 3 weeks ago, I’m nervous too cos she tested positive. I did a test 2 days ago and it was negative. Just waiting for the 30 day mark to go get tested again.... tell me how your results go
No, it's not a 100% guarantee that you would get infected if your partner is confirmed HIV+.
According to the CDC and leading HIV experts:
HIV+ female to male risk is approximately 1 in 2,000.
HIV+ male to female risk is estimated 1 in 1,000.
If you engaged in unprotected anal or vaginal sex with someone who is confirmed HIV+ then you do need to be tested because that was a risk. But as you can see the odds of a one time exposure leading to infection are not high so the odds are in your favor.
Unprotected sex does require testing. 4th generation (antigen + antibody) after 28 days from the date of exposure / 3rd generation(standard antibody test) 3 months post exposure. Chances are low to acquire infection, but testing is recommended. Thank you.
