Is this a genuine risk?

Hi all,

I was recently away on holiday and I had a very scary experience considering I am so anxious and worried about getting HIV. Anyway, I saw a man who had signs of being HIV positive i.e. purple rash on face and extremely skinny. Me and my dad walked past and I'm not sure whether one of us touched him. I  later saw that my gum had been bleeding (2-3 hours later). My question is how long would it take for the mans blood (if there was any) to dry out and HIV to become inactive seeing as I only noticed my gum bleeding 2-3 hours later and if there is any risk of getting HIV in this way. Please forgive me if this is at all disrespectful to anyone or sounds in any way weird or crazy. I am just so nervous about this whole situation so I would be grateful if somebody could give me some reassuring information. Thank you.

Thank you. I didnt mean to cause any offence in my posts but as you are probably aware I am just very worried. One last question, do you have any idea about how long HIV would survive outside of the body? Thanks.

Thanks for the help. Is it too much to ask for a genuine answer? (Rhetorical question)

Yes I accept that but the only response i got from people was a NO. Not an explanation, all i'm asking for is an explanation then I will stop posting. I am just a nervous young man asking for some reassurance. Thanks.

I know but unprotected sex is not the only way of transmitting HIV. I was nervous about the fact that if he did have a cut and either me or my Dad got blood on us would it have dried by the time I came to check my gum for blood (2-3 hours later)?

You can't look at anyone and tell if they are HIV positive or not and you didn't have unprotected sex walking down the street so you were not at risk.
