Lancet pricking
Hello there,
My son who is 12 yrs old has pricked his finger with a lancet needle which belongs to another person in his friend's house. He used it after 10 mins from its first use. I am worried that he might contract any infection. My son told me that some blood came out after pricking. This incident happened a week before it seems. My son hid it from me. I dont know if there is a risk of getting infected such as HIV, Hepatitis etc., I am planning to visit doctor tomorrow. Pls advice.

We explain this all the time and perhaps we've even explained it to you previously. But needle sticks do NOT transmit HIV. The ways that people get HIV is to have unprotected vaginal or anal sex or to INECT with shared IV drug needles. A lancet prick is not injecting with IV drug needles. It's simply in and out of the skin and air will have rendered the virus inactive on that needle. NO RISK
