Level of Risk? True Neurpathy Due to Anxiety or HIV?

Hell All,

On July 18th, I had an experience with a TS escort (male to female).  It has been a fantasy, but it was just not my thing.  After chatting, we engaged in deep french kissing for about two minutes.  After the deep french kissing, I licked her breasts for about one minute.  She then performed unprotected oral on me, while I rimmed her for about 2 minutes.  I ejaculated in her mouth, which worried me on how "safe" she claimed to be.  That was the encounter in its entirety and sexual detail.  Prior to this alcohol fueled evening, I had been monogamous for the last 4+ years.

I did a baseline STD test the next day and everything was negative (syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, HSV 1-2, and HIV).  **Then at 29 days post encounter, my doctor sent my blood to a lab for testing (HIV1-2 and syphilis).  The test was a 4th generation duo test (P24 antigen and HIV1-2 antibody).  **The result for my 4th generation HIV test at 29 days were negative, as well as a negative test for syphilis.

**Symptoms:  I am not imagining anything, but I have been getting pricking sensations on my hands, forearms, and feet.  I also get then occasionally on my knees and belly button.  Furthermore, I have occasional headaches localized to one side of my head.  **I had/have no other symptoms such as fever, rashes, swollen lymph nodes, sores, etc.

**Could I be experiencing the early symptoms of HIV?

**Can my symptoms be attributed to my daily panic attacks, anxiety, over thinking, racing heat beat, and high blood pressure?

**Is testing again for HIV1-2 at 90 days okay for peace of mind?

Please help!!!

Nursegirl6572:  Thanks.  The feelings started off has cold and burning sensations and have evolved to single pricking sensations.

The stress and guilt that I have felt are not like anything that I have felt before.  For almost 8 weeks, the panic attacks are daily and I have not had a decent night's sleep due to the guilt, anxiety, and stress.

I stopped eating, stopped lifting weights, and stopped playing basketball.  This concern has consumed me.  The mind is a powerful thing.

Thanks for your encouraging comment.

Neuropathy wouldn't be present in the early stages of HIV, or really any illness.  Even diabetics who develop it don't typically see it until the later stages of the disease.

Your symptoms don't actually sound like peripheral neuropathy anyway.  The symptoms wouldn't typically be present anywhere but the extremities (and usually it starts farthest away from the body, and moves closer as it progresses).

You haven't been diagnosed with PN, and I doubt you have it.  Anxiety could absolutely cause those symptoms.  If you continue to experience the symptoms, talk to your doctor.  It has nothing to do with HIV, as you never had a risk.

Thanks James.  Can any other STD, which takes time to show up on blood tests such as HSV1-2 be responsible for my neuropathy?

I get single pricks that hurt in the regions that I mentioned.

Hi there.

You had a no risk situation, your Negative Duo test post 28 days proves conclusively that you do not have HIV from any encounter 28 days prior.

Your symptoms are most probably that of anxiety, you can put your mind at rest that they are nothing to do with HIV.

Best wishes

James
