Mad Man at the Mall!!

Hi,

I recently had a horrifying incident occur at the restroom in a mall and would appreciate your help in resolving my query. I have not had any other exposure apart from the incident mentioned below.

I went to wash my eyes in the restroom at my local mall. I thought i was alone and was rinsing my face and eyes. Then i suddenly felt a drop of liquid hit me on my face at the edge of my lips. I turned around to see a crazy man with his penis flailing about pointed towards me. He seemed to have come out of one of the stalls in the restroom. I reported him to the mall authorities. However i am worried because i did not check what the liquid was that fell on my face. I am assuming it was semen or blood.

Now my main worry is that while washing my face my mouth was partially open. A few drops of the liquid probably fell into my mouth as well. I rinsed my face and mouth with water multiple times as soon as this incident occurred but i have read that HIV does not die in water.

If this mad man was HIV+, am i at risk if a few drops of semen/blood went in to my mouth? Should i get tested and what kind of tests should i get done? I did not have any cuts in my mouth at the time but had very dry lips which were just wet with water.

Please please help me as even my wife is scared after this incident and i want to be sure about my situation before i even think about touching my wife.

Hi,

Thank you for the quick reply. I am quite relieved to read your answer. I don't mean to be a pest and won't bother you again but could you please answer this one last question.

I have read that HIV dies quickly when exposed to air but this all happened in a matter of seconds. So if the body fluid entered my mouth in a second after leaving the person's body is it still no risk? If so, could you please tell me why? Because i have read that HIV can be transmitted through the mouth?

It was no risk because HIV isn't transmitted outside the body, also that is not one of the modes of HIV transmission anyway. You are safe & you can continue relations with your wife.
