And if someone has to get tested in India is it mandatory to have a prescription from a doctor?
No. You can always ask for a 'self' recommended test.
Also what is the cost for a duo test in India on average?
INR 450-1200.
Thanks! To both of you! And if someone has to get tested in India is it mandatory to have a prescription from a doctor? I went through an online service. But can I just walk in to a lab and ask the test to be performed? I ask this because there is a difference in price from what is offered by the platform and the lab. Also what is the cost for a duo test in India on average? In my state it is around 500 In some labs and it goes to 6k in some. These I am not asking for me. But if someone needs to...I can say...
I just saw your message in my e-mail box. I am going to take the liberty of posting here for the benefit of any other poster that may have similar query. Be assured, I am not discussing the ordeal that you have gone through.
First and foremost, you have tested negative definitively. You could rest easy, you haven't contracted HIV from the incident that you have described. You test was indeed a IV Generation of HIV test, the timeline of the test was adequate to yield a conclusive result.
Secondly, p24 antigen is a viral protein, it doesn't have a measurement unlike antibodies that has an index value detection. It is either present or not. In your case, it wasn't. Therefore, there is no value provided against it. In a nutshell, your index value reading for antibody was behind the cutoff and p24 antigen was absent. Thus, rendering your result to be Negative.
Lastly, there is no reason for you to doubt your result. Since this is an HIV prevention forum, my suggestion is limited to HIV infection assessment and it would be to forget about HIV from this event and move on.
Got it. It’s just that I put my word out and people around me got curious and asked my advice. 3 risks is what provides actual risk. And if that exists and one really needs to put aside he can get a duo test at 28 days and accept the result right? If not there is no reason to worry about hiv. There is one lab near me. The report given doesn’t account for p24 index. But the report still states it is a 4th generation. I donot want to be wrong with me as well as others. Even if they do seek out a doctor’s help I’d really be glad to help people who is in a state of trauma and something like being molested is pathetic. I just wanted to check the facts right and do not want to misguide someone with their lives.
We can't see your messages to another member. You have an anonymous user name. If you can't post your question in public, you need to talk to a doctor about it as most of us will not answer questions privately.
You have already been fully advised on your situation and your "friend's" situation, about what is or is not a risk, and about the proper time for testing, so there is no need to ask about risk or proper testing time again as the answers will not change.
I feel kinda uncomfortable posting it public
